How the Wizard walks through Your situation leads.
Six typical constellations from German Einbürgerungsrecht (citizenship law) — from simple individual Antragstellung (application) to complex Ermessensverfahren (discretionary procedure). Each case shows which Rechtsgrundlage (legal basis) applies, which Unterlagen (documents) are needed, and where the civitas. wizard comes in.
Six typical constellations.
Standard case · individual application after 5 years
The standard scenario after the StAG reform of 2024: five years of residence, Niederlassungserlaubnis (settlement permit), German at B1 level, secured livelihood. Anspruchseinbürgerung pursuant to § 10 StAG (entitlement-based naturalisation) — the wizard guides you through all 14 steps and generates an authority-ready application with a municipality-specific document checklist.
Family naturalisation · spouse and two children
Both parents meet the entitlement requirements, the two minor children are co-naturalised. One joint application for all four persons, authority-ready in one delivery — civitas. plans the data entry order so that no data is entered twice.
Shortened period · special integration achievements
The shortened period of 3 years under § 10 para. 3 StAG (Nationality Act) for "special integration achievement". Here C1 language level, voluntary engagement and outstanding professional qualifications come together — the wizard recognises the constellation and adjusts the document requirements accordingly.
Marriage to a German citizen · three years of residence
Spouse naturalisation under § 9 StAG: three years of lawful residence plus two years of existing marriage to a German citizen. The wizard collects marital data alongside personal data, checks eligibility automatically and generates the additional evidence (marriage certificate, marital status).
Ermessenseinbürgerung (discretionary naturalisation) · Self-employed receiving social benefits
A configuration outside the standard entitlement: self-employment supplemented by SGB II benefits due to single parenting. Discretionary naturalisation under § 8 StAG (German Nationality Act) — the wizard recognises the configuration and recommends initial legal advice via the partner network instead of going it alone in self-service.
Naturalisation from abroad · special case
Application from abroad under § 14 StAG: former long-term activity in Germany, marriage to a German citizen, ongoing connection to the country. civitas. supports the application via the competent German diplomatic mission abroad — the processing time here is significantly longer than for domestic applications.
Most applications follow four patterns.
From the documented constellations and relevant administrative practice, it is possible to estimate which legal basis comes into play with what frequency — and where the wizard typically delivers the greatest added value.
How we Build case examples.
The scenarios shown here arise from engaging with the relevant legal foundations — § 8, § 9, § 10 and § 14 StAG and their associated administrative regulations. We do not use personal data of real applicants.
Instead, we abstract from typical application patterns: which Aufenthaltsdauer (length of residence) is common? Which language levels are reached in which constellation? Where do hurdles regularly appear? These patterns are condensed into illustrative case examples — understandable for Antragstellende (applicants), correct in legal reference.
civitas. is not a Rechtsdienstleister (legal service provider). The case examples serve for orientation, not for legal assessment of your individual case. That is carried out exclusively by the competent Einbürgerungsbehörde — in complex situations in combination with legal advice.
