Creating an account and signing in

Registration by email and signing in via the Magic-Link — without a password.

At civitas. you sign in entirely without a password. Instead of having to remember login credentials, you receive a secure sign-in link by email — the so-called Magic-Link. Registration and later sign-in run via the same simple route. This article shows how it works.

Why without a password

A passwordless procedure spares you from devising and managing a password. There is also no password for you to memorise and later forget — access always runs via your email address. As long as you have access to your mailbox, you can get into your account.

How to create an account

You need your own account as soon as you wish to work beyond the free preliminary check. The process is short:

  1. Enter your email address. You enter the address at which you can be reached.
  2. Request a sign-in link. civitas. then sends you an email with a personal sign-in link.
  3. Open the link. A click on the link in the email confirms your address and signs you in. The first time, this also creates your account at the same time.

A separate registration step is not needed: the first sign-in via the link creates your account automatically.

How to sign in again later

Signing in works just like registration. You enter your email address, request a new sign-in link, and click on it. Important to know:

  • Every sign-in link is valid for 24 hours. After that, you simply request a new one.
  • Always use the same email address with which you created your account — that is the only place your sign-in link lands.

You also continue your started application via such a link: your entries are saved as a draft and are available again after signing in.

The sign-in link isn't arriving? First check your spam folder. You will find all the troubleshooting steps under The sign-in link isn't arriving — what to do?.

Once you are signed in, you manage your application, package, and invoices in your account. An overview of this is given by the article The dashboard at a glance.
