The application wizard from civitas. guides you step by step from preparation through to the finished, authority-ready PDF. So that you keep track, it is structured into three phases. A progress counter shows you at all times where you stand — for example "Step 7 · of 28".
Phase 1: Preparation
In this phase you lay the foundations for your application. These include:
- Choose the application type — under which section of the Nationality Act you wish to naturalise
- Classification check — a short preliminary check so that the wizard loads the right questions for your situation
- Create an account — passwordless via a Magic-Link to your email
- Choose a package and pay
- Upload documents
The classification check and the first steps are free of charge.
Phase 2: The application — the forms
This is the heart of it. Here the wizard captures all the details needed for the official form. Depending on your application, you go through sections such as:
- Personal details as well as passports and nationality
- Places of residence and registration periods in Germany
- Family — marital status, children, former marriages, parents
- Education as well as work and income and means of subsistence
- Health insurance and current occupation
- German and naturalisation test
- Loyalty to the constitution and, where relevant, military service or a special status
Phase 3: Completion
At the end you check your details, have the application generated, and complete the submission:
- Please review — an overview of your entries for checking
- Generate application — your authority-ready PDF is created
- Submission path — notes on how things continue
Why you don't see every step
The wizard is built so that it shows only the steps that are relevant to you. Some sections appear only when your entries make them necessary — for example questions about children or about a former marriage. This is why the total number of steps can vary slightly from person to person.
You do not have to fill out the application in one go. Your answers are saved — more on this under Pausing the wizard and resuming later.
